A PHYSICAL activity programme supported by the council hopes to aid residents with long-term health conditions.

The 'We Are Undefeatable' campaign, started by Sport England and supported by Wokingham Borough Council, hopes to help residents with long term conditions.

According to Sport England, physical exercise can have significantly positive impacts on those living with diabetes, COPD, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and other lasting illnesses, lessening the impact and severity of symptoms.

The programme features cardiac rehabilitation, mental health sessions as well as physical rehabilitation to assist those who require it, e.g. stroke victims.

Councillor Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure, said: "I am incredibly excited that Wokingham Borough Council is embracing this initiative.

"Keeping active has huge potential health benefits, not only helping to prevent future medical problems but can also have significant impact on existing conditions.

"We are proud to be able to offer support to our residents living with long-term health conditions with this vital initiative, and we understand that being active is about finding what works for you. Our programmes may not be suitable for everyone but that shouldn’t stop anyone from asking our team for support if you need a helping hand."

Wokingham Borough Council stated a referral from a GP or other qualified health practitioner may be required, and some programmes may incur a charge.
