VALENTINE'S day. It's that time of year when couples scramble to the shops in the hope to find something to express their ultimate love and affection.

But spare a thought for one florist who will be working like 'an army of minions' to save those stressed out husbands and boyfriends looking for the perfect bouquet of flowers for their loved ones.

Indepedent florists Black Iris Floral Design in Crowthorne has stocked up on thousands of roses ahead of February 14.

Alex Revenko spoke to the News about how some customers are prepared three weeks in advance on purchasing their Valentines Day flowers and some — not so much.

She said: "It is really busy but we are coping well. We will be staying up until 11pm to get customers orders ready for 7am for delivery.

"We are working like an army of minions but its very rewarding. Some of our regular customers are more organised and have ordered three weeks in advance but others will come in last tomorrow."

Black Iris Floral Design, located in the High Street, says this is its peak time of year for people wanting roses but the traditional red colour is not as popular.

Customers are wanting to purchase alternative colours such as purples, whites or mix different flowers together as roses can cost double the amount just because of Valentine's Day.

Sometimes, men are in such a hurry to get their last minute flowers that they don't know what to write in the cards, says Alex.

Bracknell News:

"We have bouquets ready for people to choose and they come with a complimentary card. "Sometimes they already know what they want to write like a very weird message which only their girlfriend will understand — we often laugh about that.

"Sometimes we will have to write it and suggest an idea, like an important anniversary date or the time the couple first met. They are mostly prepared though."

Thousands of roses are currently in preparation ready to buy for that special someone for Valentine's Day tomorrow.
