A FACEBOOK seller who sold fake designer items to people online has been found guilty.

Dipesh Tailor from Redhill, Surrey posted counterfeit items in Bracknell, Crowthorne and Wokingham Facebook selling groups.

The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to 15 charges on January 17 under the Trade Marks Act 1994 after investigators from the Public Protection Partnership (PPP) test purchased items.

The proceedings were brought by Bracknell Forest Council and prosecuted by the PPP Joint Case Management Unit.

Tailor used an alias of Patrick Murphy to sell goods like Nike, Armani and Chanel.

Officers from the PPP purchased the five items which were found to be fake designer.

Following the test purchases, a joint operation with Thames Valley Police took place and Tailor was arrested.

A search of his vehicle revealed a further 31 counterfeit items.

Cllr John Harrison, executive member for culture, delivery and public protection, said: “The sale of counterfeit goods is unlawful and unacceptable.

"It undermines legitimate business which in the end affects us all.

"This investigation and subsequent conviction has highlighted the risks those selling counterfeit goods take and I would advise anyone who is thinking of doing so to think twice.”
