The following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates’ Court:

October 23: 

Sentenced to prison for eight weeks suspended for 12 months due to ‘wilful and persistent failure to comply with requirements of a community order’. Ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge.

SANJAY KUMAR, 45, of Wokingham Road in Earley, admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis as driver of a vehicle in Reading on October 4. Admitted being the driver of a vehicle that failed to stop after a road accident in Headley Road, Woodley, on October 14. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity and to carry out 120 hours unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and must pay £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 42 months.

REBECCA SMITH, 33, of Love Lane, Newbury, admitted stealing fragrance items worth £139.94 from TK Maxx in Newbury on February 4. also admitted stealing fragrances items and a Ralph Lauren bag worth £249.92 from the same shop on February 4. Admitted stealing a bottle of drink from WHSmith in Northbrook Street, Newbury, on June 10, and admitted stealing a bicycle worth £750 in Newbury on May 26. Also failed to comply with requirements of a community order by not attending rehabilitation sessions on June 4 and June 18. The original offence included stealing perfume worth £27 from Superdry Store in Newbury on February 8 and stole alcohol worth £242 from Sainsbury's in Hectors Way, Newbury. Also admitted stealing clothing worth £38.49 from Superdry in Newbury on February 16. Admitted stealing fragrances worth £56 from Boots in Newbury on March 18, admitted possession of controlled class B drug cannabis in Newbury on April 3. Admitted criminal damage by destroying an iPhone worth £120 in Newbury on October 19, 2018. Admitted stealing alcohol worth £78 from Marks and Spencer in Reading on September 25, and admitted stealing alcohol worth £97 from Marks and Spencer on August 12 in Newbury. Admitted stealing fragrance worth £55 from TK Maxx in Reading on August 25. Sentenced to prison for 24 weeks suspended for 18 months due to previous record and must comply with curfew requirements using an electronic tag for six months.

VICTORIA CURRIE, 34, of Hungerford Drive, Reading, admitted assault by beating in Padworth on August 15. Fined £180 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs.

SEAN AYRES, 36, of Grassmead, in Thatcham admitted assault by beating at Zinc Nightclub in Newbury, on May 27. Fined £120 and must pay £100 compensation. Also ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

DARYL BAILEY, 31, of Norcot Road, Reading, admitted criminal damage to a front door in Reading on September 15. Admitted possession of class B drug cannabis in Reading on September 15. Fined £340 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs.

SCOTT MATTHEWS, 22, of Granville Road, Reading, admitted harassment without violence in Reading on July 24. Given a conditional discharge for 12 months and made subject to a restraining order. Also ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge.

DANE PRETLOVE, 19, of Park Avenue, Thatcham, West Berkshire, admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause distress in Chapel Street, Thatcham, on October 4. Given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs.

KATIE SCOTT, 28, of Forest Road in Woodley, Reading, admitted drink-driving in Forest Road, Woodley, on October 4. Also admitted possession of controlled class A drug cocaine in Woodley on October 4. Fined £300 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32, plus £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 17 months.

EDWARD PONTING, 25, of Brunkswick Street, Reading, admitted failing to provide specimen for analysis as a driver of a vehicle at Loddon Valley on October 4. Given a community order to comply with 100 hours unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge plus£85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 17months.

October 24:

IAN KILBORN, 38, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing two bottles of alcohol worth £54 from Marks and Spencer in Reading on September 25. Also admitted stealing six joints of meat worth £46 from Tesco in Newbury on September 12, admitted stealing three bottles of alcohol worth £60 from Tesco in Newbury on September 12, and admitted stealing joints of meat worth £116.90 from Marks and Spencer in Newbury on September 18. Also admitted swearing and sticking fingers up at a judge during proceedings at Reading Magistrates' Court on October 24. Sentenced to 16 weeks and 28 days in prison due to previous record. Also ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge.

SAMANTHA STANLEY, 33, of College Piece, Mortimer, convicted of using threatening or insulting words or behaviour to cause alarm in Mortimer on June 25, 2018. Also convicted of possession of a knife in public in Mortimer on June 25, 2018. Convicted of assault by beating in Mortimer on June 25 and convicted of an offence while subject to a community order for fraud offences. Sentenced to 26 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months. Also ordered to comply with rehabilitation activity and must carry out 160 hours unpaid work. Must pay £115 victim surcharge and £750 court costs.

TERENCE MCDONALD, 50, of no fixed abode, admitted possession of cannabis in Reading on September 17. Fined £150 and must ay £32 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs.

ANDREW TUCKER, 53, of Fallows Road, Padworth, Reading, admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause alarm in Newbury on October 9. Given a conditional discharge for 18 months and ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs.

DAVID WIKTOROWSKI, 31, of Prospect Street, Caversham, Reading, admitted drink-driving in Russell Street, Reading, on May 5. Found to have 149mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, the legal limit being 80mg. Also admitted using a vehicle without the correct insurance on the same occasion in Reading on May 5. Fined £450 and ordered to pay £40 victim surcharge, plus £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 16 months.

KIM PARSON, 50, of Newtown Road, Newbury, admitted stealing perfume worth £20 from Temptations in Newbury on October 10. Also admitted stealing £42.95 worth of alcohol from the Inn at Home in Newbury on October 10, and admitted stealing alcohol worth £36.95 from the same location on October 2. Given a community order to comply with drug rehabilitation. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs and £36.95 compensation.

DALIA PETKEVICIENE, 51, of Kirton Close, Reading, admitted drink-driving on Curtain Close, Reading, on October 9. Found to have 123mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Given a community order and must undertake 120 hours unpaid work. Must also £90 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 24 months.
