BULMERSHE Leisure Centre was visited by Wokingham Mayor after the swimming pool was finished.
The Leisure Centre, which has had £14 million worth in funding, has just had the six-lane swimming pool fully tiled and ready to be filled with water.
The old centre, originally built in the 1970's, was demolished back in mid 2018.
Progress on the new building has been overseen by Pellikaan Construction and its expected to fully open to the public by the end of 2020.
It will feature a 25m six-lane swimming pool, a teaching pool with movable floor, a gym plus a ‘live well’ (long-term condition) gym, a four-court sports hall and an additional studio and café.
Wokingham Borough sent out a tweet yesterday afternoon, saying: "The tiling is complete!
"The pool is done and ready to be filled in the new year.
"Take a look at the latest pics ft. Borough Mayor, Cllr Bill Soane and students from Bulmershe and Addington!"
For those still hoping to use a leisure centre, Wokingham Borough Council advises that, while the new centre is being built, former Bulmershe users can use the facilities at the St Crispin’s, Loddon Valley and Carnival Pool leisure centres across the borough.
