British Armed Forces children from 10 families spent the day exploring the enchanted forest, making toys in the elves workshop, meeting Santa and having fun ice skating.

Mum-of-two Kay Bush took part in the event and said her girls Chloe and Layla miss their Dad.

She said: "The girls have been really missing their Dad, especially with him being away for Christmas. He is not due back until the end of February so it was fantastic to be able to surprise them with this magical trip to Lapland.

"It really put a smile on their faces and they can't wait to tell their Dad all about it."

The day aimed to bring festive cheer and happiness to the children who may not be seeing their mums or dads this Christmas due to be deployed overseas.

This is the fifth year the charity and Lapland UK have teamed up to run the military event and families won the tickets at a ballot run by the charity.

Louise Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers, said: "Christmas is all about family time and making memories, which is a particularly difficult time of year for any British Armed Forces families who have someone serving away.

“It was wonderful to see the children so excited and happy today.

"That’s what it is all about. It was a magical and memorable day that these families will remember forever and enjoy sharing with their serving parent when they return home.”
