Olivio Barreto is standing in Bracknell as an independent candidate.

He is a Winkfield Parish Councillor and works as a consultant in programme and project management.

Having lived with his family in Bracknell for more than 25 years, he says he has a “first-hand view of all the challenges that Bracknell has faced.”

A statement on his website reads: “My commitment to you is creating opportunities for all.

“My promise is a partnership to understand the local social needs to prepare our families to be competitive and confident to live in Bracknell or go out into the world and prosper.

Bracknell News:

“No more remainers and leavers - we are Bracknell. Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England - we are the UK with our brothers and sisters in Ireland - one people! The greatest Isles on earth!”

He has outlined his views on a range of topics including Brexit, the NHS and climate change.


“By voting for me you will be asking me to leave the European Union regardless of whether we get a deal or not on 31st January 2020.

“I will vote to Leave on 31 January 2020 with or without a deal.

“I will carry out these wishes regardless of my opinions. I will then would then focus on negotiating a future deal with the EU.”

Mr Barreto has listed 15 points of focus for his action for the NHS.

They cover a range of topics, including investment in capital infrastructure and funding for the most effective medicines and treatments, protecting the NHS from any privatisation from American companies, and scrapping “expensive” parking fees for patients.

Climate change

A pledge Mr Barreto lists on his website reads: “All homes – old and new in Bracknell - to have solar panels installed by 2025 funded by the government but maintained by the house owner.

“Any excess electricity is sold free to the grid in summer.

“This should result in cheaper electricity in the summer and a saving to pay for electricity in the winter.”
