Leading vets in Bracknell are worried antibiotics will no longer become effective for animals, like they are becoming less clinically effective for humans.

Alan Hutchinson, acting clinical director at Moor Cottage, said: "Just like in humans, if we don’t manage the use of antibiotics in our pets this resistance could increase the risk of infection.

"The consequences might be that in the future procedures such as chemotherapy or surgery become too risky to undertake, and commonplace infections become potentially fatal.”
