AN evening of glitz and glamour raised a massive £52,000 for seriously-ill children to get the care they need in Berkshire.

Sebastian's Action Trust held a Scarlet and Gold charity ball at Sandhurst Military Academy on October 12.

The evening raised an "incredible" amount of money for the children's charity, which supports hundreds of families and parents of children who need extra care.

Nearly 200 guests turned up to support the charity by purchasing a raffle ticket to win a prize such as a week's stay in Barbados, hospitality package at Arsenal F.C., dinner at Claridges and more.

Jane Gates OBE, Sebastian’s Action Trust chief executive, said: “The Scarlet and Gold Ball is our biggest fundraising event of 2019.

"I am absolutely thrilled that so much money has been raised by our guests and incredible supporters.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came along on the night, who donated a prize for the auction/raffle and silent auction and also our staff and volunteers for helping to make it such a memorable evening.”

Sebastian's Action Trust in Crowthorne launched after a nine-year-old boy died of cancer in 2003.

The charity was set up to provide a space where life-limited children and their families can holiday together away from the rigours of hospital appointments and gruelling treatments.

In 2011, Sebastian’s vision was finally realised when The Bluebells, the UK’s first purpose built respite holiday home was completed. Since opening in July 2011, The Bluebells has given over 400 families the opportunity to spend precious time together.
