A DOZEN gardeners and six community gardens in Bracknell have been crowned as winners at Bracknell in Bloom's Gala celebrations.
The honours were dished out at the horticultural event, sponsored by Activate Learning Bracknell and Wokingham College, and included an array of competitive gardening categories, including 'tallest sunflower', Best Street Garden, and Best Newcomer Allotment.

Other accolades included Best use of Recycled Materials in a Front Garden, plus more than eight other winning categories on the night.
Bracknell in Bloom Chairman Allan Moffatt said: "We are delighted that Bracknell and Wokingham College once again hosted our annual Gala Celebration. We are grateful to all our sponsors who help Bracknell in Bloom to flourish."

The Bracknell Horticultural Society supports Bracknell in Bloom in organising the annual 'Your Gardens' competition. The competition's aim is to encourage the community to take part in Bracknell in Bloom and take pride in our community, making it an attractive place to live, work and visit. All participants are invited to the Gala Celebration where the competition results are announced. The 2019 event was held on Wednesday, October 30, and took place in the main college hall that evening.
During the course of the event, a short presentation was shown about Bracknell in Bloom in the eyes of the community, as outlined in the organisations ethos of wanting to support the community's health and well-being.

Graham Pockett and Marlies Boydell from Bracknell Forest Council also gave a presentation entitled ‘Year of the Garden’.
