A WOKINGHAM councillor is abseiling in Cardiff to raise vital funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
Charlotte Haitham Taylor, ward member for Shinfield South, has teamed up with the British-American Project (BAP) to abseil from higher than the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio.

Charlotte, a fellow with the project, said: “I am delighted to be raising vital funds for the RNLI, this much loved and valued charity.
“They do a fantastic job both here in this country and abroad.
“They keep our waters safe for everyone not only offshore but also inland and around natural disasters such as flooding.”
BAP is a fellowship of over 1,200 pioneers in a wide and diverse range of professions, who are individually selected on the merits of their unique views and potential to change the world for the better.
During their annual conference, which is hosted in Cardiff this year, they will engage in community projects which will ‘positively give back’ to the community and serve as a part of the conference’s legacy.
The RNLI is a national UK charity whose volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland.

Their services also provide assistance with flooding incidents and beach monitoring.
More than 8,000 people were ‘aided’ by the RNLI in 2017.
Charlotte has seen the RNLI’s work firsthand whilst on holiday throughout her childhood, who were often called out due to unpredictable currents, and fast tides on the coastline.
“They do an amazing job when it really counts, please help me raise funds so they can continue to save lives.”
Cllr Haitham Taylor will be abseiling from St David’s Hotel in Cardiff Bay on Saturday, November 9.
