A TERRIFIED woman was scared for her life when a burglar threatened her with a knife in her own home before stealing a number of designer handbags.

The incident took place on Rickman Close, Woodley at around 12.15 am on September 16 where the victim was walking back to her home when she found a man in her property.

The burglar threatened the 29-year-old woman with a knife and attempted to snatch her bracelet from her wrist.

Following this, the woman managed to run away from her own home leaving the man to steal her handbags.

She was not seriously injured. 

The offender then also ran away from the property.

He is described as a man, around 5ft 8ins tall and was wearing a black hooded top.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Woodley.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Maggie Bruce, based at Reading police station, said: "This was a frightening ordeal for the victim, thankfully she wasn't seriously injured.

"I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please get in touch,
