The Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire Big Band will be arriving in Marlow to raise funds for Alzheimer's UK.

The popular brass group, who were formed in 1986, perform on the last Thursday of every month to raise money for charities in the three counties.

And next Thursday, September 26, it will be the turn of the Alzheimer's UK to receive donations from the BBO’s concert.

The group of talent musician’s and instrumentalists will be showcasing some of the finest jazz and swing tunes at Marlow’s Royal British Legion Hall.

Trombonist Hillary Spiers told the Bucks Free Press: “We have been doing this for a long time as we want to help as many people as possible.

“And when we do perform, there are three major factors.

“The first is that all the money raised will go towards the chosen charity, the second is we always try and help the British Legion in Marlow and thirdly, we get a huge buzz from performing to a huge group of people.

“The main thing is that a lot of charities across Bucks, Berks and Ox will get a bit of extra cash which is the most important thing as that will help people in the long run, regardless of what the charity is.

“We just love doing what we are doing.”

Following their formation 33 years ago, the BBO have raised over £400,000 for numerous charities across the South East, and they don’t plan on stopping their good work across the counties.

The concert, ‘Singing in the Brain’, will see the group of 19 musicians perform well-known tunes from the likes of Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and many more.

And one person who will attend the Station Approach event will be Adrian Saunders, who is a big fan of the band.

Mr Saunders’ wife is also living with the condition.

He said: “I’ve been trying to see them for about a year so to finally go is something I’m very much looking forward to.

“It’s all going to a great cause and as my wife is currently living with Alzheimer’s, the concert will really resonate with me.”

The concert will start at 8.15pm and tickets cost £8. Tickets are only available on the door.
