ROYAL Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is supporting Business Safety Week 2019, a campaign run by the National Fire Chiefs Council.

During Business Safety Week (September 9 - 15), RBFRS will be working with small and medium size businesses across Berkshire to support them in complying with fire safety regulations.

Area manager, Tony Deacon, said: “Fire safety should be at the top of the agenda for any business.

"Many small businesses never recover from the damage caused by fire, so learning the simple measures that can be put in place to make business premises safer from fire is extremely important.

"Business Safety Week is a great example of how RBFRS can put its Local Safety Plans into action.

"By working with businesses to promote self-compliance with fire safety regulations, we hope to reduce economic costs of fire for business and local employment.”

Any business seeking advice on fire safety can contact with their local fire safety office, the details of which are available online.

By working together with small businesses, RBFRS aims to help employers take steps to prevent arson, reduce false alarms and address the common causes of fires in commercial properties.
