A DESPERATE call for paid volunteers are needed to help with homeless shelters in Bracknell and Wokingham.

Pilgrim Hearts Trust Charity, organisers of the Bracknell Homeless Night Shelter, have vacancies for paid night shelter security managers.

Residents are also able to work at the charities new night shelter which is opening for the first time in Wokingham.

Elaine Chalmers-Brown, Director of the Pilgrim Hearts Trust, says there is “an urgent need" for people to come forward.

According to Pilgrim Hearts Trust, over 100 homeless people, including many who are sleeping rough on the streets of Bracknell, are expected to need help from the Night Shelter when it opens in December.

Last year, it catered for 95 people who had no bed for the night and this year, many more are expected to need their help.
