FOOTBALL clubs and fans have sent their best wishes to a former Reading FC player who has been diagnosed with cancer.

Angus Macdonald, 26, was recently diagnosed with early stages of bowel cancer.

He started his football career in the Academy at Reading.

His current team Hull City announced the sad news on their Twitter page, and a flurry of well-wishers have responded to send their messages of support and wish the talented player a speedy recovery.

Arsenal's official Twitter account responded, saying: 'Sending strength and best wishes to Angus for his recovery, from all of us here at Arsenal'.

Wigan Athletic said: 'Best wishes to Angus with his treatment and wishing him a speedy recovery, from all at Wigan Athletic.'

 

Birmingham City FC tweeted: 'Best wishes to Angus with his treatment and wishing him a speedy recovery - from all at Birmingham City Football Club.'

Millwall FC said: 'Everyone here at Millwall wishes Angus all the best with his treatment and recovery.'

Many other teams also sent their thoughts, and Umbro UK also tweeted their support, saying: 'Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery Angus!

'We wish you all the best, from everyone at Umbro.'

Many fans haves sent messages of support, encouraging Macdonald to 'stay strong.'

 

One Twitter user said: 'Angus, this is terrible news but I have no doubt that you have the physical and mental strength to overcome your illness.

'You'll be in the thoughts and prayers of all of us as you battle through this.'
