A SHUTTLE bus will supplement the regular sky blue 16 buses during the six month closure of a Reading road.

Reading Buses say agreement has been reached with SGN for the running of a shuttle bus during the period that Overdown Road is closed and diversions are in place.

The company say that sky blue 16 buses towards Purley will run along Oxford Road past Tilehurst Station, then use Long Lane to resume their normal route along Knowsley Road.

The buses to Reading will do the reverse, diverting onto Long Lane after Knowsley Road, then using Oxford Road before resuming their normal route after Tilehurst Station.

Whilst the single deck shuttle buses will be able to use a diversion between Overdown Road and Dark Lane, this route is inaccessible for larger, double deck buses, resulting in the need for the shuttle service.

Jake Osman, Reading Buses marketing and communications manager, said: "We could not run a double deck bus along the adjacent roads, but a single deck shuttle will be able to connect Dark Lane and Overdown Road residents with sky blue 16 at Kentwood Circle.

"The agreement with SGN means the shuttle bus can run for free to enable customers to hop on whenever they like.

"The timetable for the shuttle bus, which will run between Kentwood Circle and Dark Lane via Fairford Road, can be found on our website at reading-buses.co.uk."
