Applicants will convert a disused shop on Horndean Road, Bracknell into a new fish and chips restaurant as a change of use was granted.

Located next to two takeaways, a Tesco Express and The Woodcutters pub, the empty unit is expected to operate as a chippie from 12pm – 2pm and 5pm-10pm Monday to Saturday, and 5pm – 10pm on Sundays.

Despite opposition from three residents concerned about the new eatery selling Chinese food, a council report found the plans to be suitable and encouraged the occupation of the empty unit.

The report read: “The proposed use would attract people to the local parade who could then utilise other services available in the parade such as the… public house.”

Bracknell Forest Council’s planning committee gave the plans prior approval at a meeting on Thursday, August 15.
