Every contestant in the national competition had to present a speech about why their design entry should win.

Alina said: "Since studying fashion, I have learnt more and more about how the different aspects of fashion impacts our planet. "I personally want to make high street brands go towards an ethical and eco way of producing and eventually have a sustainable brand myself."

Alina came 11th overall at the Miss England contest.

Her mum, Caroline Green, said: "She did really well considering she has not done anything like this before.

"She raised £6,550 for The Chronicle Sunshine Fund and was second highest fundraiser.

"She left the competition feeling happy and confident with her placing."

Miss Green was scouted and encouraged to enter the beauty pageant by her friends and felt delighted to have taken part in the competition.

She is now travelling in Bali, Indonesia trying to become a certified diver.
