POLICE dealt with a collision on the A337 between Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst on Tuesday night.

Police closed the road in both directions around 10pm yesterday, between the junction with Balmer Lawn Hotel and the one-way system in Lyndhurst.

It was reopened this morning around 7am.

Motorists were advised to find alternative routes during the closure.

According to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, two cars were involved in a collision.

A police spokesperson said: "Unfortunately we have had to close the road in both directions, between the junction with the Balmer Lawn Hotel and the one-way system at Lyndhurst, to allow our investigations into the cause of the collision to get underway.

"The closure is likely to be in place for some time tonight, so please find an alternative route. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will ensure the closure is lifted as soon as possible."

The road has now reopened.
