A man has been arrested on suspicion of attacking a shop worker in Tring.

The 36-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft and ABH after a member of staff at a Co-op store was attacked inside the store on Silk Mill Way on Sunday evening.

The worker suffered pain and bruising to the face in the attack.

PC Lazarus Clark, from the Berkhamsted & Tring Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This arrest came about partly due to information given to us by members of the public earlier today, so I would like to say thank you to the local residents of Tring for their support and quick thinking.

“Thankfully the victim was not seriously hurt but he and his colleagues have been left understandably shaken by what happened.

“The investigation will now continue to progress, and we shall be conducting further enquiries, so I ask people to be mindful of this when commenting on this or any other posts on social media.”
