CITIZENS advice has received £10,000 from a community fund to help more residents receive support and guidance across the borough.

The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded the grant to the Wokingham Citizens Advice branch, helping residents access better services.

With the cash boost, volunteers will be providing advice at pop-up stations to areas across Wokingham in the next 12 months.

Citizens Advice covers areas in Finchampstead, Shinfield, Twyford, Arborfield and Remenham and residents can expect to receive high quality advice and information.

Jake Morrison, chief executive of Citizens Advice Wokingham said: “One of the first issues highlighted to me was the difficulty with public transport reaching areas across Wokingham borough.

"It is important that we respond to this in different ways - and this is just one of them.

“Citizens Advice was set up 80 years ago to help people navigate through their problems, and we do that well.

“But we must also concentrate on how people can access us, so that we can link people up to more specialist advice if that is required, whether through ourselves, on debt, employment law or our new council tax arrears project with the council - or to another organisation.

“We would like to thank The National Lottery Community Fund for granting our application, and for all of my colleagues who work week-in week-out to support people in Wokingham.”
