HUNDREDS of unemployed young adults have managed to get themselves into work, thanks to a successful three year project.
Wokingham Borough Council's 'Elevate Wokingham' has helped 321 young people aged 16-24 year olds across the borough to get into further education, work experience, apprenticeships or employment.
The scheme, called the Elevate Hub, offers young people invaluable information, advice and guidance.
As well as this, the scheme has worked alongside Optalis Supported Employment Service and the scheme has helped more than 100 children with disabilities to secure a job or education.
Councillor Stuart Munro, executive member for business and economic development, said: "I am overjoyed with the success of our Elevate Wokingham project.
"It is incredibly encouraging to know that hundreds of young people across of borough have been given the support and tools required to access either further education, training or employment.”
WBC worked in partnership with Optalis Supported Employment Service to provide a service available to residents in the local area.
Joanna Flaxman, Elevate manager, said: "It can be a challenging time deciding what to do when leaving school, so to be able to offer so many 16-24 year olds with the help, advice and support they require to make decisions about their future is incredibly rewarding.”
