MOTORISTS sat at a standstill on the M4 after a multi-vehicle crash causes two lanes to be closed.

The crash happened during rush hour yesterday (Thursday), at around 5.15pm and emergency services were quickly on the scene.

Three cars were involved in the crash and fire crews rescued one woman from a car who was then looked after by paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.

A RBFRS spokesman said: "At 5.10pm on Thursday, 8 August, we received reports of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles on the M4 westbound, between junctions 8 and 10.

"Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Maidenhead and Slough were sent to the scene, alongside one officer.

"Upon arrival, crews released one woman from a vehicle, who was then transferred into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

"Crews were on the scene for approximately an hour and twenty minutes."

 

Police closed two lanes to carry out the recovery of the vehicles involved.

The crash happened westbound between Maidenhead junctions 8/9 and Bracknell/Wokingham, junction 10/11.

Queues backed up from Slough, westbound towards Reading and the delays were about two hours.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and an incident commander arrived on the scene for about one hour and 20 minutes.

South Central Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Police also attended.
