A RED-carpet night filled with glitz and glamour ensured the elderly and people with additional needs had a "night to remember".

Optalis care in Wokingham hosted their summer ball where hundreds of guests dressed in their best frocks in a movie premier style event.

The summer ball gave elderly people and those with additional needs and disabilities the chance to enjoy a luxurious evening, with a professional photographer, alongside a classic Rolls-Royce and a drinks reception.

As well as this, the evening consisted of professional make-up artists and hairdressers in the Beauty Parlour, as well as 'Night at the Movies' food theme with pizza, hot dogs and popcorn being served.

Julia Harris, Optalis head of non-regulated services, said: "We always want to ensure that the people we support have the same opportunities and experiences as others, and a chance to create positive memories.

There were around 180 guests at the summer ball event and Wokingham in Need and Easthampstead Rotary worked to make the event happen.

Family members also noted how "impressed" they were so see their siblings enjoy the event.

Sue Jackson, founder of Wokingham in Need, said: "I was absolutely delighted to take part in this wonderful event. "The heartfelt response from those who attended was overwhelming and to see the delight of the attendees’ faces was magical. I am glad to have supported a special event which will remain in people’s memories forever.”
