ZOE Lyons is used to playing to sell-out audiences at arenas and festivals across the UK - but the stand-up comedian and TV favourite will be heading to Berkshire for an intimate show at Reading’s Milk Bar next month.

The Live at The Apollo, Have I Got News for You and Mock the Week star is bringing Reading audiences an exclusive Edinburgh Fringe preview at the atmospheric bar in Merchants Place on July 16.

Although Zoe has seen huge success on popular television shows like Room 101 - as well as becoming the face of holiday company TUI alongside fellow comedian Mark Watson on Sky One - performing a set on the stage is where she finds most joy. And she particularly enjoys the smaller venues like pubs and clubs.

She said: “I get more out of being on the stage. While there are pros and cons to both and the telly stuff can be fun, I do prefer performing in front of a live audience. It is much more immediate and intimate. You can see people’s reactions.”

And audiences in Reading will get to see a preview of Zoe’s Edinburgh Fringe show on July 16 from 8.30pm for a fraction of the cost of an arena show - £6.

Despite her years of experience in front of the crowds, Zoe admits she does still get nervous - but says it is a good thing.

She said: “I do get nervous but I think I would be worried if I didn’t. People have paid money to come and see you, they’re on a night out, they have paid for a babysitter - the least you could do is be nervous.”

The star will be supported on the night by Northern-Irish stand-up comedian and television host Michael Legge, who has a string of five-star reviews for his Edinburgh Festival stints.

Meanwhile, Zoe is bringing her smash-hit, total sell-out 2018 show back to the Fringe this year for a limited run this year due to increased demand.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest arts and culture festival in the world, featuring thousands of performers on different stages and returns to the Scottish capital city from August 2 to 26.

Doors open at Milk Reading at 7.30pm for an 8.30pm start on Tuesday, July 16. Get your tickets at www.wegottickets.com/event/469898.
