Plans to build four two-bedroom homes in Ascot are set to be given the go-ahead by the council.

The move would mean demolishing two bungalows currently standing at 115-117 Fernbank Road.

But Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) has received 37 letters of objection from residents unhappy with the proposal.

One resident wrote: “Once again we, the residents of Fernbank Road are faced with a potential new development of what was ideal properties for the old/infirm/disabled members of our community.

“Is there any need to provide more housing for families in an area where already our schools and doctors are full?

“The extra traffic being brought into the area is a nonsense and has already created an extremely dangerous situation for school children.”

Other residents objected to the plans because the new developments would supposedly overshadow surrounding properties and would have a negative impact on the character of the area.

Another resident added: “The size and bulk are far too big.

“The houses now sit right back overlooking the gardens of 119 and 113.

“Bungalows are very sought-after and there is a long list through the council, yet people are being told by Silva homes that the bungalows were surplus to requirements.

“Four houses are not needed on this plot, the plot is not big enough.”

The proposed dwellings would be served by a parking area to the front of the building, providing a total of eight on-site parking spaces.

Winkfield Parish Council twice recommended the proposal be refused, claiming the parking layout would mean more motorists park on the street and “thereby exacerbating an already dangerous highways issue”.

The Parish also opposed the plans on the grounds of a loss of social housing and suggested residents had not been informed of a number of changes to the original scheme.

However, a BFC report claimed there would not be any adverse highways safety problems as a result of the building, and also suggested there would be no impact on the character of the surrounding area.
