A WOMAN in her 80s was robbed of a large quantity of jewellery during a 'shocking' distraction burglary in Woodley.

At around 1pm on Sunday, June 9, the victim was gardening outside a property in Reading Road when she was approached by a man that said the fence to the rear of the property was broken.

The victim followed the offender to have a look and when they returned to the front of the property the man said he would put a quote to fix the damage through the front door.

She then continued her gardening and when she turned round to check that the man was gone, she found that he was with another man in the driveway.

Both men then walked away in the direction of Woodley town centre.

A large quantity of jewellery was taken.

The first offender is described as a white man in his twenties, around 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build.

He had short dark brown hair and was wearing a shirt and dark trousers.

He spoke with a local accent.

The second offender is described as a white man in his forties, around 5ft 5ins tall and of large build.

He was wearing a red checked shirt.
