CURIOUS children are writing letters to their neighbouring school in a bid to make new friends and interact with the community.

Pupils at Greengables Day Nursery in Owlsmoor are taking part in the pen-pal project and are currently waiting for their response back from Oak Tree Day Nursery in Finchampstead.

The aim of the project is for the children to put pen to paper and find out what the nearby school is learning about and what their interests are.

The pupils then visited the post box and posted their letters.

Jen Ralphs, manager at Greengables day nursery, said: "The children had a brilliant time writing their letter and delivering it to the post box and are excitedly awaiting the response.

"This project proves an excellent opportunity to develop language skills and practice letter writing all while forming new friendships with peers in the wider community."
