A LEADING doctor from Bracknell will be the guest speaker at a health event that aims to raise awareness about prostate and ovarian cancer.

The free event called Your Health Matters has been organised by patient groups and will take place on Wednesday, June 5 at the Berkshire Suite, Lynwood Village in Sunninghill.

The day will be part of a series of events organised by Magnolia House and Kings Corner patient groups, who welcome patients from all local practices.

The guest speaker during the session will be Bracknell GP Dr Anant Sachdev, who is the cancer lead for East Berkshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Thames Valley and Cancer Research UK.

He believes the event will provide a great opportunity for residents to ask questions.

He said: “I am honoured to have been invited to talk at next week’s event as raising awareness of cancer is very important.

“I’m looking forward to seeing as many people as possible at the event which is open to everyone and is free.”

Dr Sachdev will be talking about prostate and ovarian cancer, with the aim of raising awareness of how people can spot problems with their prostate or ovaries as well as the risk factors associated with the cancer.

He added: “During the evening, I will be discussing symptoms of prostate and ovarian cancer. There will be an opportunity for people to ask questions.

"By working together, we can raise awareness and help patients with cancer.”

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK and usually develops slowly and ovarian cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in women.
