RAILWAY bridge repairs in High Wycombe could see a busy town centre road shut at night for up to 18 months.

Bucks County Council wants to stop vehicles from using a section of Frogmoor overnight from next Monday, May 27.

The closure order means no vehicles will be able to use part of the road from 10pm to 5.30am while Network Rail carries out work on the viaduct.

The details of the work have not been confirmed but it will include repairs to the bridge, which runs over the road.

Only those who live in the road will be able to get access through the closure - meaning taxis taking people to and from the town centre pubs and restaurants, delivery vehicles and buses will have to find a different route at night when the road is shut.

The closure will be for a distance of approximately 54 metres from the railway bridge. The diversion will be Parker Knoll Way, Glenisters Road, Hughenden Road, Hughenden Boulevard, Arch Way, Oxford Road, Frogmoor, Oxford Street and Temple End.
