STUDENTS from a school in Wokingham have buried iconic belongings in a time capsule for future residents to find.

Children from the Floreat Montague Park Primary School buried the capsule at the David Wilson Homes’ Montague Park development, where the school is based.

Inside the capsule is a range of different items, which are designed to show residents what life is like in 2019.

Rob Allen, sales director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We enlisted the help of pupils from Floreat Montague Park Primary School to preserve the past of Warboys in the form of a time capsule burial.

“As a leading housebuilder it’s important for us to consider the past, present and future of our new homes site and with the progress we have been making in Wokingham, we thought now was the perfect time to capture life in 2019 in the area.

“It will be interesting for those that open the time capsule in 30 years’ time to see not only how modern-day items have changed, but how Montague Park itself has changed over the years.”

Miss Davis, headteacher at Floreat Montague Park Primary School believes that the task allowed the children to explore their curiosity and increase collaborative learning.

She said: “The children very much enjoyed the opportunity to add items to the time capsule as well as write letters of advice to the people of the future.

“As a school we value the importance of character education and this allowed children to show great levels of curiosity and appreciation as well as collaborative learning.”

The items were buried with the help of Jason Freeman the Site Manager of the development site.
