FLOODLIGHTS are due to open on the remaining six courts at Cantley Park as part of the Nature Valley Big Tennis Weekend.

The new floodlights will mean that all 12 courts at the park in Wokingham will now be fully equipped with the lights.

The floodlights are due to open on Saturday, May 18 as part of the Nature Valley Big Tennis Weekend.

Councillor Graham Howe, the deputy executive member for environment, leisure and libraries believes the lights will allow residents to play more sports.

He said: “We’re delighted to be able to expand our provisions for tennis fans. Tennis is a great way for people of all ages and abilities to stay fit and healthy and these floodlights will allow more tennis to be played all year round.”

As part of the event there will be free tennis coaching sessions available, which have put in place to support the nationwide campaign to encourage more people to play tennis by offering free opportunities.

The improvements at Cantley Park are in addition to previous work carried out, in partnership with the LTA in 2017, which saw the three new courts, floodlighting on six courts and a new clubhouse.

The tennis courts are managed by GDT, for more information, visit: https://cantleyparktennis.co.uk/.
