TRIBUTES have been paid to Sunninghill born Hollywood actor Clement von Franckenstein, who passed away last Thursday.
The actor who was 74 died of hypoxia at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, filmmaker Gabriel Murray told the News.
Clement von Franckenstein starred in films such as The American President with Michael Douglas, in Hail, Caesar! (2016), with George Clooney and Lionheart.
He was also the son of an Austrian ambassador to England who lost his diplomatic position when the Nazis took over Austria.
His parents friends raised him after they were killed in a plane crash outside Frankfurt, Germany, in October 1953.
Von Franckenstein was educated at Eton College and served for three years as a lieutenant in the Royal Scots Greys in the Middle East and Germany.
At the age of 27 he became an actor and appeared in over 80 feature films.
The author Mary Shelley is also said to have adapted his family name for her famous novel and he appeared in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein in 1974 as one of his first onscreen roles.
Gabriel Murray said: "He will be sadly missed by all his friends and associates in the film industry.
His contribution will be remembered, and hopefully mentioned at the next Oscars and Bafta ceremonies."
