A NEW bar in Wokingham has officially been opened in the town centre’s Peach Place regeneration site.

On Friday, May 3 owner James Mattingley was joined by the Wokingham Borough Mayor, Councillor John Kaiser who cut down the ribbon at the Sit & Sip bar.

The venue was packed with customers throughout the opening weekend, with residents sampling a host of different craft beers and artisan spirits.

James is thankful to everyone who has visited the bar so far.

He said:“We want to thank everyone who came along to see us over the weekend to check out what Sit & Sip has to offer.”

“We believe the Sit & Sip experience is unique so it was great to welcome people to the Tasting Room, and see them enjoy our exciting drinks offering. It created a fantastic atmosphere, a real buzz.

“We can’t wait to meet more people now we are open, especially as we have some exciting events coming up at the Tasting Room which we are also really looking forward to.”

The bar serves craft beers from local brewers as well as artisan spirits created by small family businesses.

One of their partners is Siren Craft Brew, who are based in Finchampstead and currently have two beer taps at the bar including Gluten Free Futurist and the Hazey Pale Ale Suspended in Denali.

Darron Anley, founder of Siren Craft Brew, added: “We think Sit & Sip will be amazing for Wokingham and we are very excited to be working with the Tasting Room.

“Our customers have been really pleased that they can now try our beers in Wokingham town centre.

“It’s great to have two taps for our beers in the town, as we have previously been better known in London and internationally. Now we can showcase what we are doing locally to a local crowd.”

Siren Craft Brew will host a Tap Takeover at Sit & Sip on June 27, where customers will be able to sample a selection of their different beers and learn about their brewing process.
