REIGNING three-time world darts champion Michael van Gerwen was the guest of honour as an electrical company moved into their new premises.

Edmundson Electrical are now based at their bespoke venue at Unit 1, Riverview, Cardiff Road in Reading, and offer a wide range of products including lighting, lamps, cables, wiring accessories, fire detection, security access control, tools and fixings and electronic components.

Steve Sleep, who helped co-ordinate the day, revealed the company had moved as it needed a more modern base.

He commented: "Our previous building was perfectly fine but it was from the 1960s and we are excited to move to a purpose-built venue which can better showcase our products."

During the well-attended opening event, van Gerwen played 49 matches and hit some trademark exhibition shots including finishing six with three double 1s, and 18 with three double 3s.

During his game with Chronicle sports reporter Richard Ashton, van Gerwen hit a 180 with his second three darts, and another when he required 174 to prolong the game.

When the Dutchman hit the winning double – going double two, two, double three to finish 12 – Ashton was languishing on 264.
