SKATERS can learn new tricks and skills at a newly set up skate school in Ascot, which aims to promote outdoor exercise whilst having fun.

Tom Johnston, a qualified skateboarding coach set up Tic Tac Skate School at Victory Fields, Ascot as it was his 'passion' to teach other children and adults the sport.

He said: "I believe skateboarding can teach everyone the life skills we all need in our daily routines, no matter what age you are.

"It is positive, active, fulfilling and healthy."

The skate school has been running classes since the end of March and has already proven to be popular with hundreds of local residents wanting to sign up.

Children's classes are available on the weekends and the school also hosts an adults 'Silver Surfer' class to get parents joining in.

Adelise Morgan Scully, Toms girlfriend added: "We started the school as a bit of fun and did not expect it to take off so much.

"It is so funny seeing the dad's falling over and having fun and the parents getting involved - they love it."

As well as teaching skateboarding tricks, students are taught skatepark etiquette by waiting your turn on the ramps, having manners and how to build a skateboard from scratch.

On May 11 and 12, two UK championship skateboarders will share their experience to the beginners and inspire them to embrace their hobby further.

Tom added: "I love all my classes equally because I love skateboarding so much.

"I believe if I can help share my vast experience with people in learning about skateboarding and helping them progress and I have achieved my goal."
