PARTICIPANTS of a successful 16th annual charity golf day have been busy raising money for local charities in the sunshine.

The day was held at Bearwood Lakes in Wokingham alongside an awards dinner, which was hosted by BBC Radio Berkshire’s Ady Williams.

The event was organised by the Rotary club of Easthampstead and was supported by the Crowthorne Insurance Services Limited company.

In total fifteen groups of four took part in the course.

Rob Hughes, president of the Easthampstead Rotary club, said: “Over the years, Easthampstead Rotary Club's Golf Day has generated approaching £100,000.

"Other main beneficiaries have included Red Diamonds disabled sports club, Daisy's Dream, the Wayz, Dingley's Promise, Alexander Devine hospice, the Link, and Building For The Future.

"We are profoundly grateful to all our sponsors and participating golfers."

The primary beneficiaries this year are the Me2 Club, Youthline and other Easthampstead Rotary charities.

The Me2 Club enables children with additional needs from across the Wokingham borough access mainstream leisure activities.

Tess Eagles, manager of Me2 Club, said: "Some children can't do everything they want, and can feel isolated.

"The children can join in with the activities enjoyed by their peers. This can be going to cubs, brownies, swimming, or drama.

"Me2 Club creates the opportunity for them to do the everyday fun things we all enjoy."

Youthline provides a free and confidential counselling service for young people attending secondary school and young adults up to the age of 25 across the Bracknell Forest Borough.
