A CHARITY event raising money for a day centre, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next month.

Wokingham and District Association for the Elderly (Wade) will be hosting a 'Spring into Summer' charity dinner on Friday, May 17 to celebrate the facilities hard work over the years.

Wade, which is located in Wokingham, provide a day care service to elderly people.

A two course meal, entertainment, hair dressing and respite care is provided at the day centre.

Stuart Rowsell, fundraising trustee at Wade, said: "I have been involved for thirty years and sometimes the only contact people have is when they come into the day centre.

"You see people cry because for some, it is their only form of socialisation."

The charity event takes place at Coppid Beech Hotel and those who purchase a ticket can enjoy a glass of bubbles, three course dinner and wine and entertainments, all for a very worthy cause.
