GENEROUS slimmers have raised a massive sum of money by donated their old clothes, from which they can no longer fit in.

Slimming World groups across Bracknell, Ascot and Crowthorne collected a mountain of 5196 purple bags of clothes, raising a total of £150,000 across the region.

The recyclable bags were worth up to £30 each, totalling a re-sale value of clothes, bags and accessories at £150,000.

Jessica Tutton, team developer for local slimming world groups, said: "We knew our members were amazing and the level of effort and support was fantastic.

"More than three times the number than we collected last year and we certainly were not disappointed - I still can not quite believe how many bags we managed to collect.

"Our amazing team of consultants worked tirelessly behind the scenes collecting from each others venues, re-bagging and delivering bags daily to our hub."

Slimmers also entered into a prize draw to win a personal styling experience and shopping trip to London, by discovering one of 50 golden bags.

PRS Distribution lorries distributed over 5000 bags to Cancer Research UK shops, as part of a national fundraising drive by the weight loss organisation.

Jessica added: "I am so proud of how our group come together. So many people do not know how much of a difference losing weight can make to health, including the risk of developing cancer.

"Hopefully this campaign and our efforts for charity will help inspire more people in the area to improve their health and change their lives by losing weight too."
