AN OVERWHELMED resident has celebrated her 90th Birthday surrounded by friends and family from across the world.

90-YEAR-OLD Hilde Down was visited by family and friends at the Coppid Beech Hotel in Bracknell.

Her friends and family arrived from all over the world including Hong Kong, Spain, Vienna and London to celebrate her Birthday on Saturday, March 30.

Her daughter Annmarie, who organised the gathering believes it was a fantastic afternoon.

She said: “A fantastic afternoon tea went down well, the room was alive with chatting and laughter.”

Ms Down’s Birthday falls on April 2 and she was born in 1929.

Annamarie added: “Mum was very overwhelmed but so very excited to see everyone. She shed a lot of happy tears.”

During her working life Hilde was an associate with the guide dogs for the blind and also worked at St Ann’s Mannor in Wokingham.

She is grateful to be reaching the age of 90.

Annmarie, her daughter said: “Hilde is so grateful to reach such a mile stone achieving 90 years young and express her love and admiration for her ever-growing family.”

Hilda has three children and 10 grandchildren as well as three great grandchildren. She met her husband Jim during the second world war in Germany before moving back to England to get married.

Hilda believes the secret to looking young is having a fantastic husband, great kids, hard work and living every day to the full.
