DANCERS from an academy in Wokingham have qualified to go to the Dance World Cup in Portugal later this year.

Pupils from the Jayne A Coleman’s Academy of Dance will be defending their title as World Champions in Senior Tap and Senior Song and Dance group categories.

Jayne A Coleman, who runs the Dance Academy, said: “I am delighted for the dancers and the school. It is a great achievement and a reward for our hard work and we are proud to be part of Team England.

“I know we will set high expectations for ourselves and aim to do well at the World Cup.

“It is also great to see the involvement from the dancers and their parents who will be travelling to support us in Portugal.”

The students have also been raising money for the trip and the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice who they regularly support.

A parent of one dancer added: "he dancers have been actively fund raising with Cake Sales and Bag Packing.

“We are keen to hear from any local companies who are willing to donate to an auction, raffle prize or sponsor this talented group.”

The championship will be held in Braga from June 28 to July 6.

The school holds dance lessons in Pinewood Hall at the Pinewood Centre in Wokingham. For more information, visit: http://www.jacad.co.uk/.
