A POPULAR coffee house has announced it will be opening its doors in The Lexicon shopping centre.

Starbucks is set to be joining its neighbours in Princess Square in June.

The coffee shop, renowned for its historic whole roast coffee bean and ground coffee, will seat 100 customers inside.

Shoppers will get to sit inside or on the outdoor terrace offering a relaxing space to enjoy a hot or cold beverage or food.

Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon, said: "We are delighted to welcome Starbucks to Princess Square as we have received many requests for this renowned brand to come to The Lexicon.”

Starbucks started up in 1971 as a retailer of coffee, tea and spices with a single store in Seattle.

Today, the company has more than 24,000 coffee shops in 70 countries worldwide.
