A GOLF club based in Ascot has attended the England Gold Awards after being a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category.

Royal Ascot Golf Club attended the prestigious event held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Thursday, March 21.

The evening was hosted by BBC Breakfast TV host Dan Walker, who is also a keen golfer and supporter of golf initiatives.

Owen Lewis and Susanne Lesley run the Buddy Scheme at the golf club and have received recognition for the their work and for helping members who join the club.

Andy Davidson, chairman of the Royal Ascot Golf Club, said: “It’s brilliant that England Golf has seen fit to recognise the great work done by Susanne and Owen in projecting the Royal Ascot Golf Club Buddy Scheme.
