DELIGHTED staff and residents at an disability support service are celebrating after receiving an outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Pages Orchard, in Sonning Common, forms part of the nationwide network of support services provided by The Disabilities Trust.

The home, which accommodates three people, was awarded the highest rating by CQC after an inspection at the end of January.

In the report, it was highlighted that the people supported were valued, respected and have flexibility of choice.

The service was outstanding in levels of care, responsiveness and leadership.

Inspectors found staff were passionate about ensuring the residents had a great quality of life, stating "we found that staff were highly motivated and showed exceptional kindness and care in a way that exceeded expectations."

The CQC report highlighted the importance placed at Pages Orchard on empowering individuals to be partners in their care, with staff ensuring an individually tailored approach.

It explained that "staff recognised people's interest for the outdoors and were out all the time" and that "people were encouraged to try things often that they might not have considered themselves."

It was also noted that there is positive risk management, with one relative saying: "they seem to be super keen on safeguarding which is a great comfort to us."

Another family member added: "I am in awe of the staff at Pages who read [my relative] so well and allow them to have such a high quality of life."

Irene Sobowale, CEO of The Disabilities Trust, said: "We are thrilled with this glowing report!

"I am incredibly proud of our staff who put those we support at the heart of their work every day.

"To see the team described in the report as 'excellent, dedicated, committed and determined' is a wonderful achievement."

Vicky Pace, service manager, added: "I am hugely proud to be associated with such a dedicated staff team.

"This report is testament to their hard work and dedication, and it is an absolute pleasure to be their manager."
