SPORTY students battled it out in a series of matches at Bracknell Forest Primary Schools Festival of Hockey.

The event was organised as part of the Borough Council's Young People in Sport Scheme, encouraging more children to take on sports as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Pupils from 24 Bracknell Forest Schools attended South Berkshire Hockey Club, where Birch Hill hosted the event. The teams were divided into six groups, with the group winners and the two best runners up progressing to the quarter finals.

Uplands Primary school consistently played well, scoring three goals against a strong St Joseph's team.

In the final for group 2, Wooden Hill played against Whitegrove, which proved to be a brilliant game with the goal keepers making some excellent saves.

Binfield school scored an early goal and St Michael's Sandhurst equalised towards the end of the 10 minutes.

The last quarter final saw a very close tie between Warfield and Wildmoor Heath with neither team scoring in normal or extra time. The game was decided on sudden death penalties where Wildmoor Heath came out on top.

In the end, Whitegrove Primary School were winners, with Uplands taking runner up position.
