A CHARITY fund has been set up by the town centre to support worthy causes within the borough of Bracknell Forest.

The Lexicon in Bracknell is launching the charity fund after a successful year of supporting Bracknell Gymnastics Club in 2018.

The aim is to help raise money for local causes and projects, by running a campaign in collaboration with the Berkshire Community Foundation.

Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon, said: “We are hoping to support a number of different charities based in the borough through this new fund.

"We are delighted to be running the campaign in conjunction with the Berkshire Community Foundation and will be organising a number of events over the next 12 months to help raise money for the fund.”

The Lexicon, supported Bracknell Gymnastics Club through a series of fund raising activities in the town, raising £8,000 for the charity.

Dr Peter Tranckle, club manager at Bracknell Gymnastics Club, said: “We were so delighted to be chosen as The Lexicon’s charity of the year for 2018 and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their generosity during the past twelve months.

"All the money raised has been put to great use, enabling us to purchase some much needed new equipment, develop and train more coaches for the Club and help to fund our gymnasts attending the European TeamGym Championships.”

The charity fun will award grants to successful applicants twice a year in October 2019 and February 2020.

Each grant that can be awarded to any individual charity is £1,000.

Jim Fyfe, philanthropy director at Berkshire Community Foundation, added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Lexicon to support the local Bracknell Community.

This much needed fund will help support projects in the immediate area of Bracknell where The Lexicon is based and we are looking forward to supporting as many as we can over the coming year.”
