AN evening of magic was put on to raise money for scouts to help communities in Africa.

Hundreds of scouts in Berkshire are fundraising for Project Africa, an international development programme to help rural communities in Uganda.

Alistair Allen, scout leader, organised a magic show from Magic Moments to fundraise for the project.

He said: "My magic night was a very successful night.

"With the help of a few of my friends, family and of course to the magician Richard Furzer for performing free of charge."

The scout group have also held car boot sales and handmade cars to get closer to reaching their £3,000 target.

Project Africa is a Berkshire Scouts project who have teamed up with Soft Power Education, to help build and renovate teachers accommodation and schools.

A three week expedition will take place from the end of July where 140 scouts will take part in helping communities in Uganda.

Participants are also encouraged to use the training programme to work towards completing their Scouts awards and badges.
