THE Bracknell Forest Borough Mayor has received a cheque for his chosen charity by members of the Bracknell Rotary Club.
Councillor Alvin Finch attended a lunch and received the £500 cheque for the Wokingham and Bracknell districts MENCAP.
Dave Donaldson, member of the Bracknell Rotary Club, said: “As members of the Rotary Club of Bracknell, we try to help people as much as possible and our Burns’ Night, the Three Counties Cycle Ride and the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols all produce significant sums of money which we can give away to deserving causes.
“We also try to help people in practical ways as well as enjoying ourselves with some social events. It is traditional for us to support the Borough Mayor’s Charity at Christmas time and this year Cllr Alvin Finch chose the local associations of MENCAP as his special charity which we were pleased to support.”
The charity support people with learning disabilities and the donation was raised at the rotary’s club annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols.
The service was held at the Wellington College Chapel, Crowthorne on Friday, December 14 last year.
