A WOKINGHAM pensioner has pleaded guilty to defrauding her employer of more than £219,000.

Joy Liddiard, 75, of Old Bath Road, Charvil, appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court today (February 28).

Ms Liddiard admitted to fraud by abuse of position while working as accounts and payroll supervisor at Simpsons Springs and Pressings Ltd, between March 2008 and January 2017.

She admitted to acting against the financial interests of the company in order to gain £219,037.50.

She also admitted to conspiracy to defraud the company of £47,263.71.

The prosecution said: "This has been going on for quite some time.

"Joy was employed from August 28 2007.

"She worked in a small office and money has been fraudulently managed over that time.

"A number of different methods were used, including use of a separate bank account."

Speaking to the defendant, the judge added: "Your next appearance will be on April 2.

"You are being given unconditional bail but that does mean you have an obligation to attend."

Ms Liddiard will appear at Reading Crown Court for sentencing on April 2.
